(8/2/10)

Please extend my thanks to your board, volunteers and families for another great year of Little League Baseball and Softball at District 47.  With the conclusion of Friday's 9-10 Baseball Northern California State Championship, our spring season came to a successful close.

I'd personally like to thank our volunteers who supported District 47 throughout all levels of tournament play, including TOCs, District, Sections and Division (No. CA State).  It is your tireless efforts and dedication to the kids that keeps our volunteer organization going.

Regional contests begin this week and 2010 World Series action follows shortly afterwards, so be sure to check out the schedule here: http://www.littleleague.org/series/2010divisions/index.htm or the ESPN3 schedule here: http://espn.go.com/espn3/index.

Local Fall Ball action begins soon, so be sure to watch for a flyer or updates on the website.

Thank you again for a great season of Little League Baseball and Softball.

TODD STEWART, beloved District Administrator, passed away unexpectedly on January 12, 2009 at the age of 50.  Like many of us Todd Stewart became involved in Little League by helping out as a coach for his children’s teams. Todd coached for five years and held numerous positions at El Rancho Chico Little League including, Player Agent (1 year) and President (3 years).  He assisted in every aspect of the League from field clean-up to pancake breakfast coordinator.  Ultimately Todd became District Administrator of CA District 47 Little League, which serves thousands of children throughout the communities of Butte and Glenn County.  He served in that capacity from October 2004-September 2008.

Anyone who met Todd immediately knew that he was an advocate for children, Little League, and the game of baseball.  In honor of Todd's passion for Little League, the "Respect the Game" (Todd Hunter Stewart Award) is giving out during tournament play, to the player who best represents what the true spirit of Little League is all about.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to District 47 Little League, c/o Bruce Barnett, Butte Community Bank, 2041 Forest Ave., Chico, CA 95928. You may also share your thoughts and memories of Todd online at www.nbcfh.com
